Actress Kate Hudson New Owner of Volo Auto Museum Oldsmobile
| VOLO - Actress Kate Hudson's search for the perfect 1976 car for her famous dad stopped at the Volo Auto Museum in Volo, Illinois. Hudson on July 11 purchased a Firethorn Red Oldsmobile Cutlass for actor Kurt Russell, the longtime boyfriend of Hudson's equally famous mother, Goldie Hawn. Hudson's biological father is Bill Hudson of the Hudson Brothers. She was raised by her mother and Russell, and has said publicly she considers Russell to be her father. |

The Cutlass - located at Volo Auto through an Internet search conducted by one of Hudson's representatives - will be transported this month to the Oscar-nominated actress' Los Angeles home, said Volo Auto Museum co-owner Jay Grams, who handled the sale. "[Hudson's] representative called and said she was buying the car for Kurt Russell, who will use it in a movie set in 1976," Grams said. "They wanted a car that would look new. She signed for it Wednesday. "After they make the movie, we hope to buy it back," he added. Hudson was nominated for an Oscar for her role in the 2000 film "Almost Famous." |
| The Volo Auto Museum has roughly 50 Hollywood and television cars, including the Ghostbusters Ecto-1, a "bullet-riddled" hearse from "Terminator 3," K.I.T.T. from Knight Rider, the Lotus Esprit from "Pretty Woman" and the Batmobile. The museum also has for sale cars formerly owned by or associated with the rich and famous, such as the Rolls Royce Princess Diana was loaned during her last trip to Chicago in June 1996, and a 1955 Ford Thunderbird that belonged to Bill Bixby of the TV series "The Incredible Hulk." "It would be cool to add to our Hollywood collection a car that Hollywood sought from us and we later got back," Grams said. The Volo Auto Museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and is located at 27582 W. Volo Village Road, Volo, Illinois. For information, call (815) 385-3644. |
