What Could be More Nifty? "The Cat in the Hat" is 50!

See the Cat's $1.2 Million Car at Volo Auto Museum

The sun did not shine.
It was too wet to play.
So we sat in the house
All that cold, cold, wet day.

Dr. Seuss – "The Cat in the Hat"

Volo, IL – The sun might not shine, but it's never too wet to play at the Volo Auto Museum.

So don't sit in the house. Come see the one and only $1.2 million Super Luxurious Omnidirectional Whatchamajigger that was built to carry Mike Myers as he portrayed the cat in the 2003 live-action production of "The Cat in the Hat." Also in the newly renovated exhibit is the actual fur suit worn by Myers in the movie - a $50,000 costume

In recognition of the Dr. Seuss book's phenomenal significance in inspiring beginning readers, the museum recently invited children 12 and younger to read out loud their favorite three to four pages.

About 40 children participated, and they received an extraordinary reward. Each was invited to climb into the $1.2 million car after reading aloud. This incredibly valuable Hollywood creation normally is roped off in a "no-touch" zone in the museum. The chance to sit inside it previously had been open to no one other than Mike Myers, "The Cat in the Hat" cast and a few television news crew members at the recent Chicago Auto Show.

As their faces show, the children who participated had a great time, and the Volo Auto Museum was pleased to help them celebrate the Seuss milestone in grand style.

Plan now to visit the Volo Auto Museum, where you can see first-hand the Super Luxurious Omnidirectional Whatchamajigger and SO MUCH MORE! The museum is at 27582 W. Volo Village Road, Volo, and is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily year-round.
