Volo Auto Museum's Chicago Auto Show Exhibit a Hit!
| Tens of Thousands Ooohed and Aaahed Over Incredible Hollywood, Muscle and Vintage Cars Displayed at Prestigious Chicago Show |
| VOLO - A car that smiles, frowns, blinks and shakes in fear. Another that's 6 feet tall, 23 feet long and part plane, part car and part boat. And what on earth is that sleek blue spaceship-looking thing? Hollywood sprouted in McCormick Place in the Volo Auto Museum display at the 2007 Chicago Auto Show. The museum's fabulous cars drew throngs of visitors at the prestigious auto show, and now are back on display at the museum, 27582 W. Volo Village Road, Volo. Here's what Volo showed off at McCormick: |
1957 Chevrolet Bel Air |
The Herbie "personality" car |
The "personality" car from "Herbie, Fully Loaded," featuring Lindsay Lohan. This is the only Herbie equipped with hydraulics, electronics and air power that enable it to shake in fear, smile, frown, blink, flap its hood and more. |
| Part car, part plane and part boat, the Super Luxurious Omnidirectional Whatchamajigger from the 2003 film "The Cat in the Hat." This 23-foot-long, $1.2 million creation was built for the live-action Dr. Seuss movie featuring Mike Myers, and drew the attention of several TV camera crews during the Chicago Auto Show concept drive. |

Also featured at the show were: a 1931 Cadillac Custom Phaeton that is a 100-point national show winner, a 1936 Packard Phaeton, and a red 1967 GTO convertible. The museum also celebrated the 50th anniversary of the '57 Chevy with two fabulous '57 Bel Airs. Last but not least, on view was a 1955 M38A1 U.S. Army Jeep equipped with a deadly 106-mm recoilless cannon that was used to destroy enemy tanks. Fully restored and one of the finest in the country, this Jeep is but one example of Volo's rapidly growing military collection.
