The Great Race (1965)
 

After decades of hibernation these rare pieces of Hollywood History have resurfaced from a private Beverly Hills collector of movie cars.  For the first time in nearly 30 years these spectacles from one of the most advanced and expensive movies of its time will be on display to the public.  The Great Race starred some of Hollywood’s most historic names such as Jack Lemmon, Tony Curtis, and Natalie Wood.  These three Professor Fate vehicles are in un-restored, original condition, as when they left the set 44 years ago.  On display for a limited time and offered for sale to qualified buyers.

 

 

The Original “Doc Hudson

Straight out of Hollywood California comes the original “Doc Hudson” from Disney Pixar’s CARS.  Doc, whose character was played by the late Paul Newman, was brought from animation to reality for Disney exhibition and promotion.  The Volo Museum is now home to Doc Hudson, at least until he goes back to work in Cars 2.  Do not miss this one!

Million Dollar Bizarre Car Collection

His cars have toured to over 30 countries; have been inducted into Guinness Book of World Records as well as the Hot Rod Hall of Fame and for the first time on display in the US, the Jay Ohrberg Bizarre Car Collection comes to the Volo Auto Museum.  On display are 9 of the worlds most creative car creations and they are built from steel, not fiberglass!  See the enormous James Dean Big Bastard Porsche 550, Worlds Fastest Guitar, 28ft long with 800 HP and 6 wheel steering, Elvis Presley Tribute Car, Dick Tracy Hot Rod, Marilyn Monroe Tribute car and more!  They’re AMAZING!!!!!!!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Disney Promotional Display

From life size to teeny tiny, 3 Herbies that have just retired from Disney promotions, from 1974’s “Disney on Ice” is 1 of 3 existing miniature Herbie’s, its pedal powered with studded tires for traction on ice!  “1977’s Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo”, This full size Herbie met the late President Regan among many other celebrities and ‘Goofy’ characters!  Finally the tiniest of all, from 1980’s “Herbie Goes Banannas” 5HP Go Cart used in a world wide promotional campaign. 

Death Race 2000

Most of you have see or at least heard of the recent movie Death Race (also featured at the museum) but did you know it was a remake of a 1970’s movie staring the late David Carradine and Sylvester Stallone?  A Death Race across the country, the plot was cheesy, special effects were comical and the acting horrible, but the cars were creative and cool!  Come see the one of a kind “Monster” that was driven by character Frankenstein (Carradine) and the original Bull Car.

Batman the Dark Knight

 
Why so serious?!” From the greatest Batman movie ever, the actual 18 wheeler driven by the late, Heath Ledger in his legendary role as “The Joker”. This is the only semi truck and trailer in existence and it only be seen at the Volo Auto Museum!!!!  
 

Fast & Furious 4

    Be the first to see the nitrous burning, rubber laying, wheelie popping cars from “Fast & Furious”, in theaters April 3rd. These are the only cars that can be seen by the public anywhere in the world, our 15 car collection features all the American Muscle cars driven by Vin Diesel.

Nearly scrapped and lost forever, the Volo Auto Museum was able to obtain the only surviving vehicles used on the set of Indiana Jones.. Ordered to be crushed by the movie studio, we were able save the vehicles just days before their demise.  Come see the US and Russian Military vehicles driven by Harrison Ford in his last role as Indiana Jones..

MONSTER, MONSTER GARAGE!!!!!!! 5 people, 5 days was all that was allowed to build some of the world’s craziest cars on the Discovery Channels hit show Monster Garage, hosted by Jesse James of West Coast Choppers. Come see a limo that can tame the flames of a burning building and, the car that started it all, cutting grass at over 100MPH, the Mustang Mower known as Switchblade.

1944 PROTOTYPE JET ENGINE
Recently released by the US ARMY, this fully functional experimnetal jet engine was one of the first ever built in the development of Military aviation. For labortory use only, it was mounted to a “ROCKET SLED” and with 5000lbs of thurst was propelled down a rail system for testing..
